FLY TIPPING – WHERE A THIRD WORLD MENTALITY MEETS A FIRST WORLD ENVIRONMENT

Makes for a lot of very unhappy communities!

As the relocation of asylum seekers and refugees, continues apace! With the private, rented sector, in most deprived towns booming. The finer detail and impact of fly-tipping, failure to observe basic recycling procedures, continues to be ignored, by most, if not all local councils. The outcome can be seen on almost every street in Oldham and indeed every other street in neighbouring boroughs as the fly-tipping explosion continues to grow and grow.

For after arriving from a place where you throw your rubbish onto the streets because someone, walking past will take it.  Because to them, it will be useful and just what they need, at that moment in time, so why make any effort to recycle using bins or amenity rubbish dumps. Just let the new arrivals that come after you take the stuff you don’t want!

You will all have seen the pictures of kids, rummaging through such rubbish dumps, bins being searched for food and fighting over that flea-infested mattress, or chair with a wonky leg, that are common place within the third world.  But when that mentality enters into a first world environment, there can only be one outcome.  The first world environment becomes a third world environment pretty sharp-ish!

Dumping stuff outside, all over the place works in the ‘third world’ environments, where the rubbish is recycled by those even less fortunate than you.  But in the first world, with your rent paid, free council tax and a cheque dropping through the door or into your new bank account each week, it is called fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour.

The phrase often used is “turning the place into a shit-tip” and that is exactly what it is, but with the added bonus that those throwing out the crap, quite often think they are doing someone else a ‘favour’ and as that is what they have always done, they continue once here in the UK.

Now, this might be manageable if those being relocated were shared out evenly, sending some to the south, with some here some there and some to the leafy suburbs of Hampshire, Surrey, Devon and Cornwall.

Alas, only one council in the south takes new arrivals, aside from the obvious magnet location that is London and the rest are shipped up ‘north’, by a Conservative government, keen to protect its own voter strongholds and placed onto your street, into your neighbourhoods and your communities.

That is because all councils have the right to ‘veto’ any placements and they ALL do, except the poorest and most deprived, which need the cash that comes with the refugees and asylum seekers from the government.

Within the top ten council areas that accept new arrivals, nine are in the topmost deprived areas of the UK and in everyone of them, fly-tipping is a big problem.

All it takes to stem the inward flow is to apply the same veto. . . But they don’t, because ALL of those top ten are LABOUR controlled.  A party, that has the most appalling record, for council, mismanagement and profligate spending, of your money.  Raising council tax, as if raiding the kiddies piggy bank.

All of them riddled with high debt, after years of vanity projects and taking their eyes of the basics, like clean streets and now this growing problem of Fly-Tipping, to add to the long list of failures!

Then there is the two or three weekly bin emptying cycles that they all bought into to save money and the obvious state of being blissfully unaware that is evident within the mindset of new arrivals, that green bins are for green bio-degradable rubbish only, as they pack them to bursting with plastic, glass, and dead TV’s, or toss the contents of the rented property into the back alley as they relocate to pastures new.

You can envisage the conversation, Damiya and Gulzar throw the crap out will you, there are new arrivals due today and they might need some of this stuff.

This problem is occurring mainly in areas with terraced housing and backstreets (often cobbled) because these make up the bulk of private rented accomodation in our northern towns. It is a rarer occurrence on the council estates as, even for the newcomers, there are personal repercussions for littering/fly tipping if you live in a council house. So areas that were once filled with aspirational working class families are now becoming ghettos where back streets are impassable and rats run freely between stinking mounds of detritus.
