Salford
Welcome to Salford Heart
Salford is a city and the main settlement of the Salford metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England. In 2011, Salford had a population of 103,886. Salford is located in a meander of the River Irwell which forms part of its boundary with Manchester. The former County Borough of Salford, which also included Broughton, Pendleton and Kersal, was granted city status in 1926. In 1974 the wider Metropolitan Borough of the City of Salford was established with responsibility for a significantly larger region.
Salford is home to the University of Salford, and has seen several firsts, including the world’s first free public library, and the first street to be lit by gas. Salford’s MediaCityUK became the headquarters of CBBC and BBC Sport in 2011, joined by ITV Granada in 2013.
Salford is directly across the River Irwell opposite Manchester to the northwest and to the north of Old Trafford, southeast of Bolton and south of Bury.

Clean Air Zone
Political awareness was recently jolted into a state of being ‘wide awake’ as the Metro Mayor Andy Burnham announced the roll out of the Greater Manchester Clean Air Zone. (CAZ)
With signage going up all over the Metropolitan area, growing anger and frustration resulted in the formation of a Facebook Group called (RETHINK the Clean Air Zone – Greater Manchester). It soon attracted many thousands of new members to the group and became a focal point for resistance against the LABOUR Mayors scheme.
Unsafe Streets
Safe Streets are becoming a distant memory with the incessant rise of street crime and it is easy to allow yourself to slip into ‘armchair mode’ as you read about violent knife attacks on our once safe streets.Â
Street muggings, knife attacks, car theft, drug dealing and the most hideous of them all, the sexual assault and rape of lone women, in broad daylight on our streets.
Fly Tipping
As the relocation of asylum seekers and refugees, continues apace! With the private, rented sector, in most deprived towns booming. The finer detail and impact of fly-tipping, failure to observe basic recycling procedures, continues to be ignored, by most, if not all local councils.
The outcome can be seen on almost every street in Oldham and indeed every other street in neighbouring boroughs as the fly-tipping explosion continues to grow and grow.
