Astley Bridge

Astley Bridge is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton. It elects three Councillors to Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one Councillor every year without election on the fourth.

Bolton has a long history of strong and collaborative partnership working, focused on improving the quality of life for everyone in Bolton. This is led by the Bolton Vision Partnership, which is made up of leaders from the public, private and voluntary, community and faith sector (‘the voluntary sector’) and Elected Members.

In 2019, Bolton Council declared a climate emergency and committed to play its part in tackling climate change, with this new strategy setting out its plans. In 2021, Bolton Council officially adopted an ambitious climate change strategy that aims to make council operations carbon neutral by 2030. The wide-ranging plan also sets out how the council will work with other organisations in Bolton to address climate change.

The Bolton Housing Strategy ‘Our Homes, Our Communities, Our Future’ aims to make certain that homes and housing services meet the needs of Bolton’s residents. There are several challenges faced, which are addressed through the strategy and its action plan, such as – affordable housing, homelessness, private sector housing, ageing population, environment, worklessness and community cohesion.
