Ancoats & Beswick is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Manchester. It elects three Councillors to Manchester Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one Councillor every year without election on the fourth.

The current councillors for the ward are Majid Dar (Labour) and Rosa Battle (Labour), and Alan Good (Liberal Democrats). On 24 July 2019 it was reported that Majid Dar had been suspended by the Labour party. He was readmitted to the party and to the Labour group on the council shortly after. On 30 November 2021 councillor Marcia Hutchinson resigned from her seat in Ancoats & Beswick, citing allegations of bullying and racism within the Labour group. A by-election was held on 3 February 2022, which was won by the Liberal Democrat candidate Alan Good.

Manchester is an engine of growth and has enormous potential to grow further, and to continue to create jobs and economic wealth. We will continue to build on our economic assets and strengths in financial and professional services; creative, digital and new media; advanced manufacturing and life sciences. We will also continue to support Manchester residents to develop the skills they need access jobs and to benefit from the economic success of the city.

Our priorities around growth will be linked to our ambitions to support and invest in people through the reform of public services. We will deliver services that foster aspiration, independence and resilience, and that open up pathways into employment through education and skills. This will help to reduce the demand on expensive, reactive services.
