Baguley
Baguley, Manchester
Baguley is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Manchester. It elects three Councillors to Manchester Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one Councillor every year without election on the fourth.
Most of Baguley was developed for housing after World War II as part of the Wythenshawe Estate, including many council houses and later tower blocks. Much of the social housing has been sold off under the “Right To Buy” scheme and there are also several private housing developments in the area.
Manchester is an engine of growth and has enormous potential to grow further, and to continue to create jobs and economic wealth. It will continue to build on its economic assets and strengths in financial and professional services; creative, digital and new media; advanced manufacturing and life sciences. It will also continue to support Manchester residents to develop the skills they need access jobs and to benefit from the economic success of the city.
Its priorities around growth will be linked to its ambitions to support and invest in people through the reform of public services. It will deliver services that foster aspiration, independence and resilience, and that open up pathways into employment through education and skills. This will help to reduce the demand on expensive, reactive services.
