Didsbury East
Didsbury East, Manchester
Didsbury East is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Manchester. It elects three Councillors to Manchester Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one Councillor every year without election on the fourth.
Until 2004, most of the area formed the Didsbury ward of Manchester City Council with a section of West Didsbury contained within the Barlow Moor ward. Boundary changes in 2004 resulted in Didsbury being split mainly between the two new wards of Didsbury East and Didsbury West while a small section of West Didsbury was incorporated into the new ward of Chorlton Park.
Manchester is an engine of growth and has enormous potential to grow further, and to continue to create jobs and economic wealth. It will continue to build on its economic assets and strengths in financial and professional services; creative, digital and new media; advanced manufacturing and life sciences. It will also continue to support Manchester residents to develop the skills they need access jobs and to benefit from the economic success of the city.
Its priorities around growth will be linked to its ambitions to support and invest in people through the reform of public services. It will deliver services that foster aspiration, independence and resilience, and that open up pathways into employment through education and skills. This will help to reduce the demand on expensive, reactive services.
