Piccadilly
Piccadilly, Manchester
Piccadilly is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Manchester. It elects three Councillors to Manchester Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one Councillor every year without election on the fourth.
Piccadilly is located in Manchester city centre, just to the south of the Northern Quarter. Piccadilly Gardens are the centrepiece of Piccadilly and are bounded on four sides by Mosley Street, Parker Street and Portland Street and Piccadilly, a main road that runs eastwards from the junction of Market Street to the junction of London Road with Ducie Street.
Manchester is an engine of growth and has enormous potential to grow further, and to continue to create jobs and economic wealth. It will continue to build on its economic assets and strengths in financial and professional services; creative, digital and new media; advanced manufacturing and life sciences. It will also continue to support Manchester residents to develop the skills they need access jobs and to benefit from the economic success of the city.
Its priorities around growth will be linked to its ambitions to support and invest in people through the reform of public services. It will deliver services that foster aspiration, independence and resilience, and that open up pathways into employment through education and skills. This will help to reduce the demand on expensive, reactive services.
