Marple South and High Lane is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. It elects three Councillors to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one Councillor every year without election on the fourth.

It covers the northern part of Marple and has two rail stations, both Marple Station and Rose Hill Marple. Together with Bredbury & Woodley, Bredbury Green and Romiley, Hazel Grove, Marple North, and Offerton it constitutes the Hazel Grove Parliamentary constituency.

Stockport people are making positive choices and being independent. Over 3,400 people were helped to live more independent lives. 93% of adults with a learning disability – 706 people – were supported to live at home. Fewer adults are smoking in Stockport – down from over 15% in 2015 to 13.3%

People who need support are getting it with over 90% of Stockport’s residential and care homes are rated as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’. Stockport is benefitting from a thriving economy with 95% of ‘Incubator’ space for start-up businesses is occupied and over 5,000 new jobs have been created since 2016 by new businesses in Stockport.

Communities in Stockport are safe and resilient where over 70 community groups have benefitted from the Stockport Local Fund. There are almost 1,700 voluntary and community groups in Stockport and 352 students in continuing education are from priority areas.
