Pemberton is a town and an electoral ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, in Greater Manchester, England.

It lies on the southwestern bank of the River Douglas, which separates it from the town of Wigan, and east of the M6 motorway. The area today serves as a predominantly residential suburb along with the adjoining area of Orrell. Historically a part of Lancashire, Pemberton was formerly a township and parish in the hundred of West Derby. 

Pemberton has a resident population of 14,893 which represents 4.5% of the total Wigan resident population of 330,712. 15.4% of Pemberton residents are made up of people aged 65+, below the borough average of 17.6%. 12.5% of households are aged 65+ and live alone compared with 11.7% of the borough households.

Pemberton has 17 communities, 5 of which are ranked in the top 5% of the most deprived in England. These include the communities of Worsley Hall, Norley East, Worsley Hall North, Marsh Green East and West. 21.8% of residents claim out of work benefits, above the borough average of 15.9%.

51% of residents either own their homes outright or have a mortgage, only 34% of households live in social rented accommodation.
